Fortune Brothers Brewery was established in 1865 by Irish immigrant brothers who knew nothing about the science of brewing beer. They picked it up quickly and as a result became one of the most popular brands in Chicago. Like most regional breweries, Fortune Brothers struggled through the one-two punch of wartime shortages and Prohibition. They soldiered on as a family run operation until shuttering the brewery in 1948.
